Beer Summit

I read a report on the beer summit. I was disappointed that Obama weighed in like he originally did, but am heartened that he offered this chance for them to meet and talk about it. We really do have a great country -freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but sitting down to work out a problem is an even more important sign of greatness. That, and the fact that they all had beer- what more could one ask for?

Summer Vacations

Just returned from a great trip to the UP for the 4th of July. I love being in a small town for the 4th. Also got to see some relatives and hear stories about past generations. Makes me feel even more connected to hear what my great great grandparents (and their families) were like.

The cold weather delayed the mosquito season so we got the brunt of that, unfortunately. Robert's eye was so swollen he could barely open it- apparently an allergic reaction to one of the many flying critters that bit him that weekend.

Now we're soon to travel to another state to see some more family and make some more memories.

Oh, and then there's that pesty dissertation! Baby steps, Bob. Baby steps.

Day 1

Memorial Day Eve 2009

Blogging novice- not even sure what Blogging is- but apparently I'm doing it.

First topic:
Least favorite acronym: ABD. Can't wait to change the AB to Ph!!

Which leads me to another related problem: procrastination. In fact, the very existence of this blog is a by-product of that dreaded p-word. (sigh)

Wish me luck- am actively trying to finish my dissertation.
